A Union Forged by Rama
In 1001, in a small village on the road between Cagant and Debara, a child was born. He was born to a young man and woman named Morgan and Veralla. Morgan was a farmer’s son, and Veralla was the local weaver’s daughter. They had known each other their entire lives, having been born in this village, yet still, their families were considered outsiders, simply because they had only lived there for two generations.
As “outsiders” they were drawn to each other, and as outsiders, they made a mistake many foolish young couples make. It was with great dismay that Veralla and Morgan were separated, forbidden to see each other. Veralla was sent away, to live with relatives in another village. As her time drew near, Morgan fretted over her being an unwed mother. So he did the only sensible thing he could - he stole her away from her relatives, and insisted they marry that very night. So they roused the local priest of Chala, and insisted he marry them that very night.
He worried and fretted about performing the ceremony with such haste, for he suspected what drove them to their decision. He finally consented, after much pleading and begging from the young couple. It was nearing midnight when the ceremony actually began. As the priest began the litany of marriage, a young lady in a campsite not too far away awoke to see a strange star shining brightly in the sky to the east of her. She rose, and followed the light, finding herself on the doorstep of a Chalan temple.
When Genevieve Saker crossed the threshold of that temple, and saw the young couple being wedded there, she realized why she was there. Drawing her Sword of Fate, HeartCrusher, she blessed the wedding, and the newlyweds sealed their love by intermingling their blood onto the Blade of Love. Within minutes of the conclusion of the ceremony, young Veralla felt her first pangs of labor. And on that very night, before the Companions of Light, the child Andrell Morgonson was born, and it is said his eyes glowed gold.
