University of Magic

Although usually considered a single institution, the University of Magic has really been a variety of different schools stretching all the way back to the early days of old Enshalla. After the Exodus, for many years the University was nothing more than a few fly-by-night schools run by charlatans and hucksters. Around 890 AE the University in Mersone established a school of magic that finally gained some respectability. The University had to go into hiding during the reign of both Dark Emperors, and was in shambles by the time the High King Andrell Morganson reclaimed the throne.

At the High King's direction the Companion Kelkinal reestablished the University up on the Isle of the Winds in 1027 AE. The University thrived in the following centuries and established branch schools in various cities around Iskitaan. In 1567 AE some sort of major magical catastrophe occurred on the Isle of the Winds destroyed the island and nearly destroying the University of Magic. So much magical talent was lost during this catastrophe that the new charter of the University of Magic separates the various magical fields into separate schools scattered around Iskitaan.
